Virtual Lab
Nintendo Virtual Boy, 1995
Virtual Lab is a falling block puzzle game where players must clear descending shapes from the playing field. The goal is to link these shapes so that all their openings are closed, causing them to disappear. Each level requires players to clear a specified number of linked shapes. Shapes can also be cleared by utilizing the edges of the playfield, including the bottom and sides. Linking shapes in certain patterns will summon a fairy to clear the bottom pieces from the playfield. The game ends if any stack of pieces reaches the top of the playfield, and players aim to score enough points to advance to the next level.
The game features 100 levels, each with a specific number of shapes to clear, while the final level is an endless loop. Players can adjust the gameâs speed from "Low" to "Mid" to "Hi" at the title screen, with "Mid" being the fastest. Although players receive a password upon completing each level, there is no screen to input these passwords, rendering them ineffective.
