Classic Casino holds a unique place in the Watara Supervision library, as it eventually replaced Crystball as the official pack-in game bundled with later models of the console. Like many handhelds of the 90s, the Supervision needed a gambling title to appeal to an older demographic who might be picking up the budget system for a quick distraction, and Classic Casino filled that void perfectly.

The cartridge is exactly what it promises: a no-frills, digital gambling suite featuring three staple games: Blackjack, Poker, and Slots. You start with a set bankroll and the singular, endless goal of trying to beat the house and increase your virtual winnings. Blackjack offers a standard game of 21 against the dealer, Poker provides a basic five-card draw experience, and the Slots mode gives you a traditional multi-line digital slot machine.

Visually, the game is heavily reliant on the Supervision's four shades of gray to distinguish card suits and slot icons. Since the entire experience consists of static screens and menu selections, Classic Casino completely avoids the hardware's infamous motion blur. It makes for an incredibly stable, easy-to-read game where you can take your time deciding whether to hit, stand, or fold without straining your eyes against a smear of moving pixels.

While it lacks the flashing lights, digitised voices, or colorful flair of casino games on more powerful home consoles, it functions exactly as intended.
