Desert Falcon
Atari 7800, 1987
The game is played from a scrolling, isometric perspective, where the player controls a falcon navigating through dangerous environments. The player must face various enemies, including vultures, warriors, flying fish, and other creatures, all of which guard treasures and attempt to stop the playerâs progress. At the end of each level, the player encounters a large, howling sphinx that must be defeated in order to advance. The falcon is equipped with arrows, which it can shoot to eliminate enemies and defeat the sphinx.
Scattered throughout the game are hieroglyphs in the sand. By landing on and hopping over a specific combination of three hieroglyphs, the player unlocks what the manual refers to as "super powers." These powers vary based on the combination of hieroglyphs collected and include abilities such as invincibility, teleportation to the end of the level, bonus points, a decoy to mislead enemies, and an air bomb that wipes out all airborne enemies.
