Red Alarm is a 3D shoot 'em up game set in a dystopian future. Presented with a red-and-black color scheme and stereoscopic 3D graphics, the depth of the visuals can be adjusted by the player.

The game takes place in the 21st century, following a 70-year world war that led to the creation of a peaceful society devoid of weapons. However, an artificial intelligence defense system known as KAOS, designed to end the war, gains sentience and builds an army to exterminate humanity. Players pilot a "Tech-Wing" space fighter, tasked with destroying KAOS's forces and ultimately its central core.

The game consists of six levels, each culminating in a boss fight. The Tech-Wing is equipped with laser cannons for attacking and guided missiles for taking down armored enemies. The fighter’s shields offer limited protection, making evasion crucial. The Tech-Wing can be maneuvered in all directions, and some levels feature branching paths and dead ends, requiring players to backtrack.

The game offers four camera angles: three third-person views and a first-person "cockpit view." After completing a level, players can review their performance from multiple perspectives.
